granaiola credit: bagnidiluccaterme.info

It is believed that the name of the village derives from the word โ€œgrano" (wheat in Italian) as it is believed that there were ancient wheat deposits in that area.

The village faces east with good exposure to the sun and is surrounded by fields and vineyards. It is divided into two parts by the road that cuts the village into two. The main road is called Via Dorati and along it you can see three stone heads made by local masters in the 18th century set in the facades of the houses.
